Went in with some apprehension, just because I don't particularly like being upside down in a kayak but Pete & Rhohan were excellent, patient teachers, was a lot of fun and came away with the beginnings of some skills and a lot more knowledge I can expand on. Thanks

Having attend another training course with a local kayak club previously, it was refreshing to be part of a structured approach to learning this sport. Peter's teaching style was excellent. He was able to communicate through the correct amounts of theory, practice, wit and of course plenty of encouragement. This course has given me the confidence to continue learning and enjoying the sport with all the right habits! Thank you!

Having decided that kayaking is my sport of preference and having done some sheltered river and lake paddling I decided the time had come to get outside my comfort zone and learn some skills, gain confidence and feel safe. Pete is an outstanding teacher, mentor and guide. Gently helping people to try and achieve, very very generous with his years of experience. The amount of skills covered, the completeness of the whole courses from all the on water through to the off water planning and preparation. I learnt soooooo much in those 2 days and now can't wait to get my own kayak and get out doing more. Thanks so much to Peter and East Coast Kayaking and the Kayak Shop.

Some friends and I were planning on going to the Whitsundays - seakayaking, so I thought I would get some skills and practice in.
The course was thorough, enjoyable and balanced. I now have the basics to plan and execute a safe and enjoyable seakayaking adventure - with the skills to keep myself safe and to be an asset rather than a hinderence to any seakayaking adventure.
Thanks Rohan

Having done some river paddling and a little coast hugging exploration, I decided it was time to do the sensible thing and get some quality instruction. After doing some research, East Coast Kayaks Sea Starter course came up top of the list and Rohan and instructor Pete didn’t disappoint.
The course takes you through the fundamentals of paddling and perhaps more importantly, introduces all aspects of safety and trip planning necessary for a protected waters paddle. The information is comprehensive, but well-paced and the two day format allows you time to take in what’s presented on day one and raise any questions or queries the next day as you head back to the water to put it into practice. Pete and Rohan’s knowledge, experience and practical tips were inspirational and in addition to the structured course, a whole lot can be learnt just watching these guys on the water.
If you’re considering taking your paddling and more importantly your understanding of the ocean and our local conditions to the next level, or you just want to have a very cool weekend, I’d highly recommend taking the course. I’ll be back for the Beyond Basics course too.

I did this course on one of the coldest and roughest weekends in May and loved every minute of it! We had rough seas with strong winds and an amazing group of people plus a great instructor too! Lots of laughs and fun but always felt safe and well looked after. I learnt a lot and really look forward to learning more in Spring!
Thanks again!
