The TW80 is a good all-around excellent sea kayak sail, proving to be the most popular size in North America as well as in Australia. At 0.8 sqm. the new TW80 has a good drive. The TW80 has a slightly shorter luff (the edge that connects to the mast) and has more sail area in the roach (top).
Made from a mylar/scrim/mylar tri-laminate, designed to be both tear & UV resistant, with a very cool modern look which also allows you to see through the sail at the approaching conditions.
Flat Earth Sails are manufactured in Sydney, designed by the late Mick MacRobb, and meet all of the rigorous quality targets we would expect from a paddling aid that in the right conditions can supercharge your kayak.
Mast height: 146cm.
Complete kit includes sail, mast, instructions, and all rigging
Coloured trim stocked in black and red.
Instructions - please see attached Youtube video (How to Fit a Flat Earth Sail - Mirage 580). Note that the hardware has changed a bit over time and may not necessarily be the same as in the video but the principles are the same!
Kayak sails exert down-pressure on your fore-deck and it may be necessary to reinforce your deck prior to fitting.

As a past sailor it is great to get a bit of assistance to windward in my Delphin. I've previously used a kite which gave me the same downwind speed. I used to be reticent on going out paddling in a breeze but now I look forward to it. A great product, well designed with automatic depowering in big gusts, safe as houses!
