Product Description

Kayak fishing is a great recreational activity!  This tour gives you insight into local species and techniques, shows you some fantastic local sites for fishing, whether you are new to kayak fishing or just want some local knowledge.  Why not come and try our Melbourne Kayak Fishing tour - pedal and paddle - drift and troll!

Location: City of Bayside Melbourne Vic - Hampton Pier, Half-Moon Bay or Ricketts Point (Beaumaris Sailing Club) - location dependant on the weather

Time: Our tour can run at various time of the day, depending on availability, weather and your preference! Start times depend on sunrise and sunset times - we will confirm prior. At present approximate times are:

Dawn – approx. 5:30am (To be confirmed)
Dusk - 5:30pm

Duration: 3 hours


  • Kayaks and all safety equipment - Hobie Evolution 13
  • Anchor
  • Rod and reel, line and leader
  • Plastics and jigs
  • Spray jacket

Target Species: Flat Head, Squid and Pinkies (juvenile Snapper)! 
Depth: 5m+ (shallow waters)

What to wear and bring -Clothing and equipment

  • Dress warmly - avoid cotton!
  • Thermals, fleece, footwear and hat are a must! Wetsuits are a good idea in the colder months. Spare thermals & raincoat are useful when off the water. See the Registration pack for more details of what to bring
    We can provide wetsuit ($15) and fleece ($5) hire - please indicate size when booking (S, M, L, XL, XXL)
  • Head torch (dawn and dusk)
  • Fishing Licence -  NB You must have your Victoria Fishing Licence on your person – this is not supplied be East Coast Kayaking. See link to purchase a fishing licence
  • We recommend you bring your own fishing equipment but we can provide
  • Parking money if you don't have a Bayside Beach Parking Permit  - parking at Half Moon Bay boat ramp or Beaumaris Sailing Club

When you arrive: Park at designated location, help unload trailer and set up kayaks, get dressed, briefing, head out for a Pedal/paddle, drift and possible anchor,  work a combination of plastics and jigs,  and enjoy the scenery 

We also run a Kayak Fishing Course during the spring/summer months
