BRAČA-SPORT® mission and philosophy is to design, develop and produce the best performing paddle for every paddler. We believe that each paddler has different needs and therefore each paddle should be uniquely designed. Different designs work better for different paddlers and environments. Their goal is to continue research, development and creation of a diverse range of products that satisfy the vast variety of paddlers. They are the only manufacturer to engineer paddles in every paddling category: Canoe Polo, Dragon Boat, Flatwater, Freestyle, Marathon, Ocean Racing, Outrigger, Slalom, Touring, Waveski and Wildwater.
The Brača IV Surf Ski blades have a special reinforcement in the most stressed areas, which makes them suitable for paddling in the surf zone.
The same characteristics are required for fishing ski paddlers so we recommend pairing these blades with the more durable 19K shaft.
We would suggest the medium 19K shaft paired with the 765cm2 max blade and either the medium or soft shaft can be paired with the min 735cm2 blade (19K is the shaft on the stocked paddle).
Blade Size: Choose between the Max (765 cm sq) and Min (735 cm sq) sizes. Paddle in stock is 735 cm sq.
Carbon Content: Available as fully carbon (Carbon 100) and reduced carbon (Carbon 60). Reduced carbon content to keep it more economically priced and is a more flexible shaft (60% carbon in the shaft, 50% in the Blade). Fully carbon (Carbon 100) paddles are lighter and stiffer - the Braca IV is also available in an Extra Light construction for the athlete who prefers light and stiff characteristics.
The Stiffness / Flexibility of the shaft is measured as the amount of flex over a metre of shaft under a 10kg load.
This paddle in stock is a Braca IV Surf Blade with reinforced shaft for extra strength.
Shaft type: The Adjustable shaft allows for adjustment of paddle angle and 10cm of adjustment in length. The ferrule is a plastic ferrule by Kajak Sport.
Hand Locator: No hand locator (this is mainly something sea kayakers want, not so much surf ski paddlers).
Reinforcing: The Braca IV Surf Blade is reinforced on shoulder for back paddling and bracing in surf (different from the marathon blades that are reinforced on the tip).
