Product Description

The complete kit for an electronic bilge system on a kayak.  A must have for your boat!  Does not include battery or charger (we no longer have the lithium batteries)  or use a 1.3 AmpH lead acid Gel Cell (available from outlets such as Jaycar).

Rule Pumps 25D, Non-Automatic 500 GPH fully submersible 12 volt DC bilge pump offers many design features while keeping size and cost to a minimum. Especially popular on smaller craft, they are unmatched in pumping power and longevity. It features an easy clean snap lock strainer, silent and vibrationless operation, anti-airlock protection, compact, efficient long life motor, marine grade blocked wiring, ignition protection, no burn-out when run dry and rust and corrosion protection.

Package includes:

  • Rule Pump Kit,
  • Pelican 1020 Battery Box,
  • MagnetX Switch (60cm lead**)
  • Bracket

This kit is suited to a single kayak. If you wish to install in a double kayak (either one large pump or 2 pump-1 switch system) you will need a bigger pump (Rule 800 or 1100) which requires a bigger battery (gel cell not lithium) and bigger battery box if you are running off the same switch - call us for advice. [or install 2 stand-alone systems for each cockpit!]

This kit includes the new Rule pump with an oval rather than circular profile - does not fit old Rule Pump brackets.
We now have our own bracket designed to fit the pump against the bulkhead.

Lead length - the lead is designed to go between the Magnetx switch and battery box, both of which will usually be in the day hatch (rear hatch if no day hatch). If the pump needs to be mounted at the forward bulkhead (at your feet) generally the Magnetx switch and battery box will still be in the day hatch but this means the pump lead may be too short (it is about 800mm) - if you are mounting the battery box near the pump in the front hatch this fixes that issue (if you are able to reach to mount it there - size of your hatch!) but you will need a Magnetx switch with a long lead (3m available).

**The length of electrical cord provided is for a pump positioned behind the seat (60cm) - if you require an extra long cord for pumps positioned at the far front of the cockpit with a battery box in the front hatch, check the long lead box above.

Typically a front-mounted pump is required in kayaks where the seat is also the bulkhead (eg. Raiders) or there is a sloping bulkhead (NDK Romany - unless you get the bulkhead re-shaped by a good fibreglasser) or very little room behind the seat.

We recommend Sikaflex 291 for fixing the Magnetx unit under the deck of composite kayaks. For plastic kayaks you may need to add some bungee, mountings and screws (not supplied) as not much sticks to polyethylene / rotomoulded kayaks.

A note on Magnets - the magnet used here is a simple one from a craft supplier - replacements can be found at Riot Art & Craft or similar stores. We DO NOT recommend the strong Rare Earth Magnets - they will cause the reed switches to warp and stay permanently on or cease to work.
