East Coast Kayaking offers a range of courses to introduce you to kayaking in a safe and supportive environment. Courses range from short introductions to get you out on the water safely, to full day courses and courses designed to extend your skills into another level and begin to explore our coastal waters.
We have courses designed to help you realise your kayaking dreams and ambitions:
Courses take place over the weekend, but can also be undertaken by Private Tuition at a time to suit you - usually on a weekday.
Learn to Sea Kayak - Sea Starter Course (incl. PA Basic Skills) - learn the fundamentals of sea kayaking on our flagship 2 day course. If you are keen to sea kayak this course is for you - no prior kayaking experience necessary.
Learn to Surf Ski and Ocean Kayak - designed to give you the fundamental skills necessary to start surf ski paddling and develop efficient stroke technique. Learn and improve your paddling skills on our fleet of Carbonology Sport Ocean Skis. Now available by Private Tuition (3 Hours).
Introductory Courses - get a taste of paddling : a 1 day introduction to sea kayaking (the minimum to get ready for the kayaking on your Antarctic cruise!) and 3 Hour Recreational Kayaking (sit-on-top kayaks). Learn how to handle your Fishing Kayak safely.
Beyond Basics - Following completion of the Sea Starter Course you can extend your skills with this series of courses - choose from a 2 Hour Advanced strokes and self rescue techniques course (including introducing the eskimo roll), Day Journey and 3 Day Expedition.
Paddle Australia Qualifications - activities over 3 hours can be counted towards your PA Skills Qualifications (sea starter course, beyond basics) and we provide Intakes and Assessments for Paddle Australia Guide and Instructor Qualifications.
