We recommend high visibility colours for sea kayak touring - the Flame Red is equivalent to to the Type 2 level Life Jacket, Cobalt Blue Type 3 (and it does have some reflective materials on the shoulder straps).

Measuring: 

Chest: Horizontally under the armpits and around the fullest part of your chest and shoulder blades

Weight:  include all the gear you’ll be wearing too. Life Jacket buoyancy label: A correct fit is more important than choosing the buoyancy category according to your weight. All Palm Life Jackets have buoyancy above the minimum floatation required for CE/ISO certification.

Certification:

These Life Jackets pass ISO 12402-5 (water sports) standards. The majority of Palm's PFDs have up to 20% more buoyancy than the ISO/CE standard and the whitewater models have up to 40% more buoyancy than the 50 N required. Palm were the first to make Life Jackets to these ISO standards.
