Keeleazy - Protecting Beautiful Bottoms Worldwide
KeelEazy is a self-adhesive (peel and stick) strip that provides an extremely durable surface anywhere that abrasion is a concern. Ideally suited for the keel of kayaks, it is also used on boats, canoes, jet skis, car doors, etc.
KeelEazy Strips are easily applied to fiberglass, polyethylene, thermoformed ABS and metal surfaces and can be moulded over compound curves with the use of a heat gun. We stock this 3/32” PVC material in 2” and 4” widths.
We stock black, white, red, yellow and orange, Keeleazy is available in lengths by the metre. The 4” tape is available for wider craft in either black or white only.
KeelEazy can be applied full length (recommended) or on specific wear spots.
We are now supplying two versions of our Keeleazy strips for plastic materials such as ABS, Polyethylene, varnish and for Composite materials such as fiberglass, Carbon/Kevlar etc. Make your selection in the drop down above.
Original Keeleazy - Suitable for any type of kayak construction.
The new Keeleazy - for composite kayaks only as the adhesive is different - it does not adhere well to plastic or ABS kayaks so is best used on composite kayaks only. It is also a stiffer tape and it does not bend around curvy hulls as well as the Original so we recommend the original Keeleazy if you have a curvy surface.
This Keeleazy is good if you want to protect a flat surface on your deck from abrasion (paddle strike, paddle park area, anywhere scratches occur)
Which to use:
Keeleazy - Original |
ABS, Polyethylene, Thermoform, varnish Suitable for any type of kayak construction and can be moulded around curved hulls with the use of a heat gun. For very sharp bends you may find it better to cut some small darts in the edges |
Keeleazy - for Composites |
Composite - fibreglass, carbon, kevlar etc - FLAT SURFACES only |
Select the length you require for your kayak - remember you need to curve it around the hull - allow about another 20-30cm above the length of your kayak - will depend how high up the bow you want to fit it (and whether it is a traditional bow or vertical bow).
We recommend laying out the tape along the keel line before removing the protective strip, in order to get the best position. Any left overs can be used for patching or on your deck (eg. under the edge of your spare paddle).
For other lengths select our per metre listing and indicate the number of metres required in the Quantity box (will come in one piece). Also available in 5.6m & 6.1m lengths to suit sea kayaks around 5.3m & 5.8m respectively, allowing for curvature.
KeelEazy Application Instructions – Apply at Room Temperature – approximately 21 C

Having applied another brand previously, the result were not good, no folding on the bends, glue not sticking, guard moving for no apparent reason. This product got the job done and it looks neat. I also had a choice of colours and ornage matches my Delta 15.5 GT Kayack as well.

Good product, I should have bought the 4 inch tape but it still did a very good job. Fitted the 50mm tape to my brand new Seak kayak and it works quite well.

Hopefully the KeelEasy tape just added to the keel of my Nadgee will make masking and adding sacrifical flowcoat a thing of the past. While it's very tough, I have noticed that the tape seems to "grab" the sand more than the gelcoat strip did, making it a little harder to slide off down the beach and away. Still, a small price to pay to avoid leaving little bits of my keel on each beach I launch from!

Installed the 50mm Keeleazy tape on my Viking Profish. The keel had a few scars and abrasions so gave it a good sand with 180 grit paper then several wipe overs with alcohol. I used a heat gun to apply the tape and it was easy than I thought it would be to get a really good, bubbe/wrinklel free fit even arounbd the tighter curves of the stern.
Been dragged across the sand and pebbles a few since fitting and the tape seems to be standing up well.
Definitely recommend this product to others.

I found the KeelEZY Tape was easy to put on and with the said of a heat gun was easy to round the curves on the Kayak Keel. Has good wear resistance to most surfaces found when launching the kayak
