INSTRUCTIONS

This bag allows you to use the space between your knees under the deck. It is detachable and angled to fit the contours of the deck. It is easy to access and gives you a great place to store gloves, sunscreen, snacks and other daily necessities.

Note: Read over these instructions thoroughly.
This entire project should be done in a well ventilated area. Poor air circulation within the kayak will cause mineral spirits vapours to linger longer. Installation is quite simple and should only take you about 20 minutes.

Tip: After you have marked out where the bags are to be attached, suspended the boat inverted; this way you can work in a standing position.

Mounting Instructions (Composite Boats)

Needed for Installation:

  • Pencil or felt marker
  • Mineral spirits
  • Vinyl adhesive (eg. Vinyl-Tec 2000)
  • Newspaper
  • Piece 80 to100 grit sandpaper
  • Clean-up rag
  • Heat gun or hair dryer (optional)

Locating Attachment Points for Vinyl Anchors

  1. Fill the bag with crumpled newspaper so it takes its natural shape.
  2. Fasten the vinyl patch buckles to the buckles on the bag.
  3. Hold the bag with the zipper opening facing the paddler so it is centred along the top of the inside of the hull just inside the rim of the coaming,
  4. Once you are comfortable the bag is not going to interfere with your exiting the cockpit, note where the bag sits.
  5. Adjust each of vinyl bases so they are about 5-6 inches out from the centre line. That should put the vinyl bases about 2 inches beyond the edge of the bag itself. Mark the outside of the vinyl patch. Repeat for each of the remaining patches.
  6. Follow the instructions on the vinyl adhesive to mount the patches.

Mounting Instructions (Roto-molded or Plastic Boats)

Needed for Installation:

  • 4 stainless steel nuts, bolts and washers
  • Pencil or felt marker
  • Pair of scissors
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Adjustable wrench or similar
  • Drill and 3/16” drill-bit

Follow the above instructions from 1-5 above to determine the drill points on the hull.

  1. Prepare the vinyl patches by drilling a hole into the centre of the webbing between the two bar tack stitches. This will allow the bolt to pass through. Take a match or lighter and melt the edges of the hole to reduce fraying.
  2. Now, with the scissors you can either cut the vinyl from around the nylon or leave them as they are.
  3. Place the vinyl patch or webbing with the hole up against the inside of the hull and mark where you will drill the bolt hole. Carefully drill one hole at a time and bolt the webbing/vinyl patch to the boat. When bolting the vinyl patch to the boat ensure the buckle is facing the correct direction while tightening.
  4. Now double check the second drill mark before drilling the hole.
