This foot brace and rudder control assembly includes ergonomically designed, two-part foot pedals that offer significant advantages over anything else on the market.
Unlike other systems, your feet don't slide back and forth to steer. The lower half of the pedals is locked in position so you remain in a solid brace at all the times.
Steering is accomplished by minute pressure from your toes to the top half of the pedals. Even while seated, pedal position is easily adjusted for different users/ Pedals cannot be accidentally dislodged and the track design prevent sand build-up.
The Transitional series feature an aluminium rail with the pedals in a hanging position that prevents them from getting jammed with sand or debris.
The Barrel Locator Adjuster is included here to allow use of spectra for the rudder cable. To use with stainless steel cable purchase the Toe Pilot Foot Control Foot braces with no Barrel Locator and add the control cable (sold separately).
Includes:
2x Toe Pilot Foot Control Foot braces (Left & Right)
4x Mounting bolts and spacers
2x Barrel Locator Adjustors (fitted)
Fitting tip:
The Vertical Adjustment Plate is easy way to lower the height of the Foot Controls which typically need to sit a bit lower than typical foot braces.
It also allows for set up with a spacer behind the top of the plate to give the pedals a more comfortable angle.
A set of Stud Mounts can be used with the Transitional series of foot braces & toe-pilots if you do not want to drill holes in your kayak - both the Smart Track and Sea-Lect Designs Stud Mount kits (set of 4 stud mounts), will work with these Foot braces.
[Note that the Performance Foot braces cannot be used with stud mount kits as the bar blocks access to the screws - for stud mounting the Transitional series of foot braces must be used]
Additional Info:
BLA is made up of two parts, cable tension adjustment knob (used on the end rail of the foot controls) and the barrel. The foot controls can be
built with this part already connected (this will be stocked at a future time) to the control cable to allow for easy connection to small diameter rope or cord, such as Spectra or Dyneema
lines. Smart Track swage a stop onto the control cable to secure the adjustment knob.
The barrel is designed to fit varying diameters of rope or cord. The small end hole ID is 2.5mm. To fit larger diameters simply bore a sightly larger
hole. This can easily be done with drill bits and an electric or hand drill.

These are a great rail, footbrace & pedal assembly. In our club we have now standardised on these for our kayaks. The adjusting rod means you can move them even when seated and the design of the wire means it does not need to be retensioned after each adjustment. Great where different people use the same kayak and the pedals are adjusted frequently.
